Description:
Dans le passé, i.e. in the past. Old things, melodies, thoughts in a baroque quartet, whose parts can be played on several instruments. A continuo part on harpsichord or piano, then a cello, a violin, and one more melodic wind instrument, either an oboe or a flute. The work consists of four-movements. The folk lament-like first movement is followed by the song Meghót, meghót a cigányok vajdája (The Gypsy Voivode is Dead) in a parlando style. After this lyrical slow movement, we hear the arrangement of the song Zöld erdőben, zöld mezőben (In Green Forests and Meadows), and the work is rounded off with a dynamic, romantic closing movement. The play carries us away to a distant world in time that we last visited when reading novels from the Romantic era.
